MAPS TO THE INVISIBLE
MAPS TO THE INVISIBLE are an ongoing series of larger works on paper. They are made using a process of ‘imprinting’, which mirrors the imprinting process a living organism experiences in forming attachments, receiving mnemonic memory or learning certain behaviours i.e. imprinting from their primary caregiver or environment.
The maps are made by building up a multi-layered ground of paint, ink and gold dust - an inverse archaeological process layering energy and memory onto the surface. They are a palimpsest of materials, energy, the unconscious - and the mystery of Spirit. They are a call and receive communication using the surface of the paper as a kind of oracular tableau allowing whatever wants to - to communicate itself onto the paper.
The MAPS can be hung with, or without a frame, and can be sent to most places in the world.
